The latest addition to the Apple's line up of Portable Media players, is the new iPod Touch 32GB. There are no major changes in the form factor though Apple has added two new attractive feature one would expect from a PMP. It has got an external speaker, incase you forget your earphones and it also comes with a very handy external volume control. Apple has also revised the price of iPod Touch series, which makes it an attractive purchase. Now you can get a brand new iPod Touch 32GB for just $399. Lets us get the hands on the new monster from Apple.
Let us begin with the review part. This Touch is very similar to the first generation iPod Touch and the iPhone 3G. It has got an attractive, crystal clear 3.5" widescreen with multi-touch having a stunning resolution of 480 by 320 pixels at 163PPI. It includes Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. Comes with Safari browser, e-mail, contacts, google maps, you tube, weather, stop clock, alarm clock, etc. Many applications are now available easily through Apple Store.
Starting the music player has never been so easy. With Apple's iPod Touch, as the name implies, you get to listen to your favourite tracks with just few touches. The album art dominates the whole screen. When the device is held horizontally, it automatically switches to coverflow view, enabling you to select from an array of album arts and the graphics are stunning. In addition to all the default features of the player, Apple has now included its proprietary Genius function which automatically creates a playlist according to your current taste in music.
Sound from the included earphones are good. Though you may considering an upgrade to get the full quality audio the player can provide. Apple has worked on the battery part. The new iPod Touch offers an impressive 33 hours audio playback and 6 hours video playback. There is a modification in the size too. The new iPod Touch measures 4.3"x2.4"x0.33" and weighing 4.05 ounces. The new external volume controls are positioned in the upper left side. The speakers are present in the bottom of the unit. It also comes with the fitness application Nike+iPod. It lacks the GPS function and the integrated camera of the iPod 3G.
The iPod touch still remains as the most revolutionary, ground breaking entertainment device. The striking features would be the ease of use and the support for plenty of applications through Apple store. The new features of the iPod touch may look cool, but still it hasn't got enough reasons for the existing owners of iPod Touch to upgrade their unit.
